Towards effective implementation of Environmental Education and Conservation Gardens in Schools in Akwa Ibom State, today we hosted a training programs for Project Coordinators and Stakeholders in Uyo, Nigeria.
The event was attended by officials of State Secondary Education Board (SSEB) led by the Executive Chairman, Rt. (Hon) Mrs. Ekaette Ebong Okon represented by the Director of Monitoring & Evaluation. The Ministry of Agriculture was also represented at the event by the Head, Tree Crops, Mr. Ettima U. Ituen. Mr. Kai Zimmerman, President of Zenaga Foundation also joined via Zoom.
The project with combination of planting exercise of various species of economic trees, establishment of nursery gardens and installation of solar powered lights in benefitting schools is geared towards creating awareness on environmental protection & actions, also facilitate sporting facilities in the schools for the development of sport skills and improvement of student’s health.
The environmental education and conservation gardens is currently implementing in 15 Schools in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and is funded by a German based non-governmental organsiations Sport for Future and Zenaga Foundation and implemented in Nigeria by the African Centre for Environment, Agriculture & Rural Development.
