In Nigeria the number of out-of-school children (OOSC) has continue to increase exponentially according to a report by UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) which put the figure at approximately 10.5 million children out of school, the highest any country has ever recorded. The report suggests that the high out-of-school risk is largely associated with a lot of factors including conflict situations, long distance and travel time to school, socio-cultural norms and economic situation amongst others.
In typical rural or disadvantaged communities in Africa, School children will have to commute between 1-2 hours by foot to access their study environment. This long walk to school may be a critical barrier in school enrollment, attendance and academic performance.
Based on our assessment in the implementation of Green Schools Project, providing a mean of transportation to a child especially girl child reduce the gender gap in school enrollment, reduce commute time, increase punctuality to school, increase educational attainment, promote a safe and climate resilient environment.
Bike4LIFE is an initiative focusing on providing bicycles to school children, women in rural communities across Africa. Our aim is to increase literacy level among vulnerable population of school aged, increase school enrollment, reduce commute time and provide health benefits to the children.
Working with partners, our target is to donate over 1,000 bicycles to vulnerable population of school aged children in communities across Nigeria and Africa at large.
Join us in this intervention, as we are committed to aid and support those who are less fortunate but extremely brilliant.
