OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTED TO GOVERNING COUNCIL OF THE AKWA IBOM STATE COOPERATIVES FEDERATION LIMITED (AKCOFED)

The Akwa Ibom State Government through the Bureau of Rural Development and Cooperatives has appointed our Executive Director, Unyime Robinson to the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State Cooperative Federation.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Ekemini D. Umoh, Honourable Special Adviser, Bureau of Rural Development and Cooperatives said it was an important event to chart a new course for the Cooperatives to ensure sanity and to re-organise its activities for greater achievement.

As part of efforts in moving the body forward, the former Council members of the Cooperatives were dissolved and a newly constituted Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State Cooperative Federation Limited was inaugurated. Mrs. Umoh applauded the State Government and the out-going Governing Council for their commitment and hard work so far towards ensuring active operations and sustainability of the cooperative movement in the State.

During the swearing in ceremony, the seven new members took their oath of office conducted by the State Attorney General, represented by Barr. (Mrs.) Comfort Morison. The newly inaugurated Council swore to uphold the constitution of the Governing Council and the Cooperative Federation and promised to drive the interest of the Cooperators in the state.

In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated President of AKCOFED Elder Asuquo R. Jonah, expressed happiness and appreciation to the Government of Akwa Ibom State and the Board for finding him worthy for the position. He pledged readiness of the team to ensure the aim and objectives of the cooperatives is not only achieved but sustained. He added that all other cooperatives in the state will benefit from standard operations under his administration.

Other members of the Governing Council include; Mr. Unyime Robinson, Vice President, Donor and International Cooperation, Pastor Monday Tom, Member Representing Eket Senatorial District Cooperatives Zone; Elder Umoh Paul, Member Representing Uyo Senatorial Cooperatives Zone, Pastor Joseph Bill, Member Representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Cooperatives Zone; Mrs. Dorathy E. Ekanem, Member Representing Women cooperatives interest and Obong Paul Archibong, member representing primary/cooperative unions.
